compatibility

Important Notice:
As of March 2001, EAW MX8750 processors have been outfitted with new firmware.
This firmware fixes a communication bug that was found to occur when MIDI
communication was used as the main channel between the PC and the processor.
There are currently two versions of the firmware, v1.1 and v1.2. This can be
determined when power is first applied to the MX8750. At power up, the input
meters indicate the firmware version for roughly 3 seconds. The left input meter
indicates the version major while the right input meter indicates the version minor.
For example, if the first LED on the left meter and the second LED on the right meter
light up, this is version 1.2.
Unfortunately this firmware upgrade requires a software upgrade as well. This
directory contains two installation files. “mxware_old.exe” (3.9 MB) is for processors
running v1.1 firmware while “mxware.exe” (14.7 MB) is for processors with v1.2 or
higher firmware. A “zipped” version of “mxware.exe”, “mxware.zip” (6.7 MB), is
available for users with slower connection speeds. This latest version of MXware
contains several important upgrades including security features and an updated GUI.
v1.2 firmware is available for any customer with v1.1 who wishes to upgrade.
Although this change is not necessary, EAW highly recommends the upgrade since
any future releases of MXWare will be written for v1.2.
NOTE: Changing the firmware in an MX8750 will NOT cause any settings stored on
the processor to be lost. However, it is recommended that a “Read settings” in
MXware be done before any hardware changes are made. Please consult “Replacing
the EPROM.pdf” for more information.
